1987 5kcsq radio

My radio is starting to give problems.  I would like to replace it, preferably with one in which I can tune into weak stations.  The stock radio's tuner seraches and locks into the next  station whose signal is strong enough.  Living as I do in the Chicago area where we have winter season and construction season, I like to check on traffic conditions from a 24 hr station whose signal is relatively weak.  

Any BTDT ?  I wish the 87's radio was like my 200 TQW's.  Thanks.
