OK, tire time.....

After almost soiling my pants driving home last night in a rainstorm,
I have realized it is time to retire those "lovely" Goodyear Eagles
my 2000 A6Q came with. They were marginal tires to begin with, and
they are now worn almost to the point of being a safety hazard.
Oh, and winter is coming soon!

I've always loved the BFG Comp T/A VR4 for the large 100/200/A6's.
They've been quite competent in the snow, and very good at everything
else too. Tire Rack has them for $110 each (or $84 if I go for the
215/50/16; would that be a wise move?)

They also seem to rate the Dunlop SP Sport 5000 Asymetricals pretty
highly, including a much better snow traction rating. Anyone use these?
My driving is mostly back road "spirited" driving, some highway, a lot
of time skiing too. They seem like a reasonable choice, but a "W"
speed rating? Maybe if I drive off a cliff!

Note: to head off any snow tire wars, I do not think I want to go the
dedicated snow tire route. I'm quite happy with today's good All Season
radials, and don't have the space or $$$ for an extra set of tires.
