Hey Thomas,

Congrats on the purchase. Hopefully it will work out as well as mine has.

Usually all that is required is cleaning the sensor connector that runs to
your temp gauge. I usually clean it with electric contact cleaner (although
WD40 will work in a pinch). Clean the connector terminals and the sensor
terminals. It also helps if you scrub them with something. Let dry and
re-connect.....you can re-connect earlier but the gauge won't work until the
connector has dried out. Here's the connector I'm speaking of...

I've fixed two temp gauges using this method. Requires a cleaning about
once a year to keep it working.

Mine does that too. But I ignore it, then again that's just me!!

P.S. Turn your e-mails to plain text instead of HTML format!! (Thanks)

Good Luck with your car!!

Subject: 1990 80 Q Questions

Hey all! Just purchased a 1990 80 Q- seems like a really nice car, but I
need input on a couple of things:

-The engine temp gauge does not work- heard this is common in the 80/90
series. Temp sending unit?

-Shifter is a bit notchy and loose feeling, kind of wobbles- is there a
rebuild type fix?

Is a really clean car otherwise, hopefully it will be a good one.

TIA,
