The thumb rule for clean, rust free but
> lubricated threads is: torque to 2/3 of the dry spec.
> So I torque the lug nuts on my OEM alloys to 60 lb-ft.
from what I have read in engineering texts is about right, I have
calculated 60%, but anyway don't go the full dry torque or you could
risk damaging something. It might be worth considering other options for
preventing corrosion, not living in the salt belt I don't have any
experience with this. Maybe someone makes a special low-lubricating
corrosion preventing substance for this sort of application or marine
applications?
