The vacuum central locking system is pretty robust, but a paint to install
from scratch. Even pulling the stuff in a scrapyard means taking the entire
interior and carpets out of a car, pulling the vacuum lines and the pump,
installing the proprietary lock bits in the doors, etc. If you do this,
hats off to you- you wanted central locking _really_ badly.
The smart solution for aftermarket c/locking is the complete system you can
buy at your local auto parts store. It comes with a control module and door
actuators for every door that needs (un)locking. It's still a paint to
install (working inside a door is no fun - heck, removing a door panel is
no fun!) but it's easy by comparison. Also, these aftermarket systems offer
the option of remote (un)lock and if you have an alarm, you can hook it up
to the central locking.
Finally, aftermarket systems aren't too expensive.

Good luck!
