A mechanic I used to use had the same problem when he replaced the seal in
my 4kq. It leaked even worse afterward. Turned out the new seal had a
plastic housing that broke when he hammered it into place the way he
usually does with metal ones. He said the plastic was the same dull grey
color as the metal ones and he didn't notice it was plastic.
