On a somewhat related note.

  I've got a good friend with a 97 A4q Avant.  He's been hearing some
annoying rattles inside the car lately.  He's not too car savy so he brings
the car over to my house, and we take a spin to try to track down the
source of the noise...

  Whoa, the first thing I notice is the clutch is releasing at the very top
of the throw, not good.  Not a big surprise.  He's in and out of NYC
traffic all day, and he's sort of rough on equipment.   So he asks, what
does this mean?  I say well, the clutch seems to be wearing a tad on the
quick side,( The car only has 50k on it....)  But we move on to finding the
rattle, and he leaves.  

  I get the call this morning.  " Dude!.  You're never gonna believe this!
My trans blew up on the George Washington Bridge!.   It's okay though, I
was able to get off the highway and park it in Harlem."

  Can't say that was a surprise.  I wonder if he left the keys in the car??
