Oil warning idiot light

Hello,
While cruising at a leisurely 65 mph I heard the dreaded beep beep beep
oil light warning
indicator, I pulled over and checked the oil level, pulled the fill cap
to see if oil was circulating, all seemed fine, I continued on to my
destination with no ill effects except for the warning light  flashing
happily away. Engine temp stayed normal.
Patient is an 86 5ks non everything with 135,000 on the clock.

any ideas, btdt's greatly appreciated
