Central Door Lock Problem

Make sure the handle connector that actuates the central door locking system is still in place.  If it got broken or loose(darn plastic), it won't work.  
A further note on the plastic, though.  A few weeks ago, someone decided to break into my car by prying under the door handle(ala VW); so, instead of gaining access, they essentially disengaged the whole system.  Broke the window to gain access to my CD player, which they lifted.  To fix the door handle, all I had to do was put the plastic piece back on.  Ya know, sometimes Audi engineers really do know what they are doing.  I won't say anything about the other times...
