I learned something today

I never had to remove filter or light.   I remove the ic to tb and
associated hoses.  Removal of the air box cover is the tricky part..I have
been able to weasel the thing out by a rotational/translational twist up an
out(that is I fool with the thing until it comes out without breaking
anything.)  Remembering how to get it back in is also fun.  Somtimes it
comes right out but might frustrate getting back in, or vice versa.
 
I always remove the waffle cover and associated hoses, ISV etc. and clean
everything thouroughly.  This is all part and parcel to geting the box cover
out and doing the "simple filter" replacement.
 
Replacing the filter takes under half an hour.
 
Replacing the filter correctly by cleaning fuel distributor and plate, and
checking things out properly - about 4 hours.  I would not want to pay a
mechanic by the hour to do this level of anal retentiveness.
 
I guess that is why my jobs take longer than the book might specify.  But in
the end, they also look better, and I surely have less trouble with the FI
system in the long run.

much time, $$ and effort building up this motor.
