[s-cars] oil change question

Hi Lee;
My cars see temperatures of -40. I run Mobil1 10w30 year round in the UrS4.
Synthetic oil has better cold flow properties than dino oil, and IME 10W is
OK even at -40. Personally, I don't feel comfortable with 0W anything. As
oil is used, the polymer chains that unravel with temperature to increase
viscosity get mechanically chopped up, and the oil gradually trends down in
viscosity. I'd rather end up with 10 than with 0, although it never gets
that far - another good reason for oil changes. I change my oil and filter
every 8000km - it works for me, and everyone has their personal preferences
on this topic, which have been discussed ad infinitum on this list :o)
