The inlet tract is full of oil anyway, so the K&N oil contributes nothing.

Do the test.  Install a clean paper filter, wipe out the inlet tract, and
drive 5,000 miles.  Swap to K&N, wipe out the tract, and this time keep the
paper towel.  Drive 5,000 miles.  Open up, and wipe out with a fresh paper
towel.  Compare the paper towels.  See if you can punt the K&N over the
house.
