Resistor Fix on Heater vent motor - Q

A while back I printed out a "fix" for a problem of the lost positioning
of the heater vent control motor (this is the motor that works the heat
mixing cable in the AC programmer box).

As I recall, the problem was the rheostat that the circuit uses to sense
position gets "short" spots in it and the motor can hang at these
spots. The fix is to solder a 680 ohm resistor between two of the
rheostat leads. This will cause there to be some signal thru the short
spots and so the motor will not hang up....

Well I finally have the controller out and a resistor in hand, but I
cannot find my copy the old post that described WHICH two rheostat
terminals I should use for the resistor.

Anyone on the list know which two terminals (or which colored wires) the
resistor goes on?

TIA
