As far as the door handles go, take the panel off.  It's not hard to do and you will be able to see exactly how everything fits together/operates which will come in handy as this is a repair that you WILL do again.
And the window switches: Take the ashtray out, push the switches downward, pull off the old switch, put on the new, push it back up into it's proper location.  This is much easier than removing the center console area.
