Just got an '86 5TQ...my first car! Actually I had to share a VW Fox with my
little brother the last 3 years. I'm hoping you guys can help me out a
lot---college and Audi's don't mix. Anyway, I got the car with H&R springs,
a custom 2.5" exhauast,Fuchs wheels, and manual boost controller. I didn't
really know what to look for when I got the car, so it has more problems
than I initially realized...
I'm only getting 1.0 bar of boost (WOT) and .9 in normal driving. I'm
thinking it's vaccuum since I already replaced the temp. sensor. How do I
find where the vaccuum leak is....I've visually checked the hoses going
to/from the IC and manifold.
I got the car checked out at a local NTB because the front end was a
little noisy. Everything was tight, BUT the stock shocks have some play at
the top now because of the lowering springs (NTB guys said the shocks were
too long). Are the Konis/Bilsteins/Boge any shorter? I live in the country
and rough roads are an everyday thing.
I've already purchased a 5000S of the same year so I'd have some other
parts, so if anyone needs anything, mail me! Too bad the combination switch
in the spare car is bad...mine just went bad. So, if anyone knows of a place
where I can get one cheap let me know. I have a few junk yards near
me----will the switches off of other cars work(100/200) ?
Sorry about the novel!
