Hi All,

Well I figured out the timing issues (Thanks Huw!!) and I realize that
yesterday I was looking at the timing mark on the front of the cam gear, not
the mark on the backside. The guys that did the t-belt before must have made
that front mark as a secondary reference??? It is actually at about 7
o'clock and there is no factory corresponding mark on the head that I could
see.

Anyway, I buttoned everything up this morning and she fired right up (thank
god!!!). I went for a quick drive around the block to see how she ran and if
there was pinging or hesitation. There was no pinging but a lot of
hesitation. I adjusted the mixture setting to get the highest idle I could
find, only about 600 or so. It still didn't run right. I knew I had
advanced the dist. pretty far before (I actually do not own a timing light)
so I backed off a little and got the idle to about a factory 900 +/-. As I
pulled out of the driveway I could tell that I nailed all of the settings
pretty good.

The car feels a lot better throughout the normal RPM range - the higher the
better- and with the settings I have dialed in, the idle is just a tad
lopey. I don't want to get on it until a few more miles get put on and
everything settles in, but third gear is going to be FUN!!! I think this is
a VERY nice upgrade and really not that difficult to do. I got the whole kit
with the upgraded valve cover gasket/seals and 10 lifters - around $360. I
took my time and had a couple hiccups (woodruff key) but all in all it was
about 4-5 hours total.

Power discs and Bilsteins, here I come....
Carl
