missing yellow light

Sorry to hear of your misfortune with the yellow light
that had been removed.  Sounds like a PO was taking
advantage.

Listers, Jim has shown us today a very valuable lesson
about the yellow "check engine" light, and reminds us
of the old saw "caveat emptor":

On cars so equipped, the light MUST illuminate with
the key in the "on" position before you crank the
engine.  This tells you that the light works, of
course and that the ECU is at least getting power.

If it does not, find out why.  If you get a BS answer
from a seller, turn & run.
