Hi Qlist:
Well I finally got the Princess' new shoes all laced up. Yet another
case of Anderson Motorsport solving nearly all my problems. (Now if
they would simply open up a sideline wedding planning business, my
life would be totally stress-free). After two weeks of hellish
searching, two separate special orders and a guy who worked at a parts
counter nearly crying when I made him go back to the wheel bolt
section of the warehouse four times, I finally got the bolts. They
just had em sitting around left over from a special order and they
gave em to me for free. One place I special ordered them from charged
me $3.95 a bolt but the specs were wrong so I refused to pay for them.
This is what happens when you try to save time and money by going to
the supposedly cheap chain parts store that's 6 blocks away. Sigh.
Anyway, I got the wheels and tires from a fellow lister (thanks Bill)
and that made it all the more sweet, as if a voice that sounded
suspiciously like Alec Guiness were saying "Use the Force, Jen. Stay
with the Q-list. Stay with the Quattro Club, they've never let you
down." I don't know whether it was just a case of absence makes the
heart grow fonder but when I finally got to enjoy those 15" x 7 inch
wheels...WOW! I really noticed the difference. Now that I'm totally
happy with my car and it's finally, dare I say, perfect, I'm going to
go drive the snot out of it on the track in three weeks.
Which brings me to the subject header of this e-mail. I'm looking for
recommendations for places to stay during Road America. I love to
camp and that worked well at Brainerd, but as always there are time
considerations with a track event (like I don't want to get up at 6:00
a.m. to take down a tent) and I actually find myself quite tired after
a day at the track and don't have the energy to build a fire to cook
dinner. Perhaps a quiet, cheap hotel near the track would be in
order.
