a/c won't "pull" charge in, no leaks, good compressor

Did you pull vacuum on the system?  It has to be sucked down to 28" mercury 
vacuum, then all the moisture is out.  The vacuum will also draw the 
initial can of refrigerant in, this will provide enough pressure to 
override the low pressure cut out switch and you should be able to put the 
rest in.  Engaging the radiator fan also helps, as this draws air over the 
condenser, enabling more refrigerant to be sucked in.  I was able to refill 
my Coupe in about an hour.
