No, that is the key, it uses a delrin "piston", so there is no diaphram to fail...theoretically it is rebuildable, if it ever came to that. Newer versions now actually use an aluminum piston sealed with an o-ring.

Yes, functionally it is the same, it is really a reliability issue

Hmm, the 1.8 is bigger, the 2.7tt unit is about the same size

Ya, I had the same one fail after 6 mo, the replacement started honking around 0psi, very annoying, I finally gave up on the cheap, plastic stock units and did it right once and for all. On the track I can't afford to have one of the cheap stock ones fail, not worth it.
