In the dark: resolution

Well I finally got the lights to work on my 1990 200tqa. It was in the
switch after all it would appear that the braided copper wire (that connects
the terminals to the bar that holds the points for high/low) had been
incorrectly routed from new and had slightly interfered with said function.
The result over time had been that one of the points bars had bent
slightly... So straight bar and un-jam the braid ...Let there be light!
So that explains why putting on the indicator put on the lights, cos
toggling the lever moved the bent bar.
Thanks to all who helped.
