List,
Had an open day so I decided to check for my vaccuum leak (on my '86 5ktq).
Well, I hope it's a vaccuum leak. I can rarely get over 1 bar and 1 bar only
comes at full throttle. I've been hunting the archives and Scott Mockrey's
site for help, but this is my first car and I don't have a Bentley yet.
So...I tried the fault code test. Found a place to get 3rd gear open and did
not get over 1 bar. Brought the car back to the school parking lot and put a
fuse in the fuel relay. I jumped and the car to get the codes
and.....waited....and waited some more. The light was on, but it didn't
blink! So, I went ahead and checked the hoses. I checked everything but the
hose on the bottom of the intercooler. The only place I found cracks was on
the air intake boot. Would this effect boost? I also found that on the
manual boost contoller there are not even any hose clamps. Yet, there did
not appear to be any leaks around them. So, what now? Would the throttle
switch cause this kind of performance? A shop told me it was most likely a
vaccuum leak.
Thanks,
Jason
