Ron,

I suggest getting your hands on the wiring diagram of the year/model car
from which the 10-speaker harness came from, as well as the diagram for
your own car (read: Bentley manual).  With that and a multimeter, you
should be able to troubleshoot the problem.  Doing anything like what
you're doing without a wiring diagram and understanding the undertaking,
is like shooting in the dark.
