Brake pad recommendations and caliper paint.

Couple questions for the qlist:
 
1.  Any brake pad recommendations for daily driver AND occasional track
duty?  Considering Mintex C-Tech pads, and Hawk HPS Plus pads.  Any horror
stories?
 
2.  Any suggestions on caliper painting/coating?  My calipers have a couple
rust spots and stains.  Thought I might consider cleaning them up and
painting them with some high-temp.  Recommendations on paint that will do
the job and hold up?  I've seen "Caliper Paint Kits" but are they really
different from other high-temp epoxy paints or the like?
