ive done tons of 4's, 6's and 8's. id be willing to
bet, if your story is true, that you bent the c shaped
arm, the other lower arm would have to have traveled
very far in order to bend it, and there is no way you
bent the upper arms, ive seen badly wrecked cars that
the upper arms were fine ( but we replaced them anyway
to be safe !! ) if you turned your tie rod out about
and inch on the sleeve itself, dont drive anymore !!!!
there is not all that much thread left !!! if your car
has not had the newer steel tie rods put on it, nows a
good time to do so, id at least replace that side tie
rod anyway. the old tie rods were aliuminum bodyed. if
your torn cv boot is on the same side, your lucky !!
for that you need to remove the long bolt that holds
the 2 upper control arms in, get them out of the
knuckle, remove the axle bolt, pull the axle out of
the knuckle, put the axle bolt back in the outer cv
and tighten it up untill the cv pops off the axle
shaft, remove the boot, clean it up real good, lube
and put back on. make sure you replace the c clip that
is still on the axle shaft, and you may have a hard
time getting it to snap back onto the shaft, make sure
it is on all the way !!
