Hi everyone.
I just bought a 1988 90 Quattro 5-speed in desperate need of repair. Since
I haven't bought the Bentley manual yet (if someone has a used one I will
gladly buy it from you) and have no experience with Audis, I need some
pointers.
The first thing I'm fixing is an oil leak from under the rocker cover. I
need to know the following:
1. What is the tightening torque for rocker cover bolts (nuts actually)?
2. Is it possible to check the condition of hydraulic valve lifters without
removing the camshaft? If so, how?
3. If I have to remove the camshaft, what is the tightening torque when I
put it back in?
4. How to check the lifters (I understand they should be taken out and
depressed with a finger to check for any sagging - if any slack is found, a
new one goes in) - is this correct, any pointers will be appreciated.
The next job will be to fix what looks like a binding front brake caliper.
Again, any pointers will be appreciated.
And again, if you have or know someone who has a Bentley manual for this
car, please let me know.
Thanks.
Radek, Ottawa, Canada.
