The car you saw is sort of an Urban Legend. It was the mythical "4000 Quattro Commemorative Edition." aka the CE. Built in 1986. Everybody says they existed, but as far as I know, you are the first one to report a sighting. They also made 1986 Coupe GT CE. They are almost as sought after as the 1987 Coupe GT Special Build (aka 1987.5 Coupe GT).

Did they make a 4kq SE?
Today at the boneyard, I pulled a bunch of stuff from a car that should not
have been there. It was not wrecked, but the front end had been slightly
picked over (headlights, bezels, & front wheels gone).
It was a 4kq, white with white Ronals, and red leather interior. The leather
was better than my car. I couldn't get the window lifts ( didn't have the
right tools) but will try next Sat. I did get the door handles from the front
doors, and a bunch of other stuff. The interior panels had never been
removed. The plastic door skin seal was perfect.
I know the Coupe came as a SE, but was there a 4k also?
Kills me to see this car cannibalized. I think they drove it into the yard.
If the front hadn't been picked, I'd have bought it complete.
