I have continuously and slowly been gathering as much info on the TYP89
V8 4.2 swap as I can. I have a good basis to know that it won't be a simple
swap, but I have enough info to know where most of the problem areas are.
There is the one 90q3.6 in Germany, talked to that owner a few times, wish I
could speak German fluently, would make life easier as the English
conversing is a little hard. There is a rally car in Germany that is a
90q4.2, but I can't find who owns that or who built it, it's a pretty well
hacked away car for rallying. I have seen that one picture of the Shokan CQ
4.2 they have on the site, but have yet to run up there to see it in person,
don't even know if they are pursuing that anymore. The big issue is having
mounting bracket fabricated, everything else is child's play compared to
that.
Though with the 200q20v in the state it's in, hiding in the corner at a
shop in NY, and if I ever gain access to the insurance money then the 3B may
find it's way into my 90q this summer, but many factors involved in that
decision. There aren't many 4.2 engines that I have seen for reasonable
prices, tons of 3.6's though. I'd love to get my hands on an A8 4.2 engine,
or better yet an S8 4.2. 90q40v has a nice ring to it:)
Cheers,
