The chronology.
1. Hard starting
2. 3 Techron treatments
3. Hard starting AND miss at idle.
( really need the car- give in- sub it out- pay $200 for someone else to
find the intake leak inside the fenderwell.. ultimately)
Still misses at idle
4. Pull injectors, bridge fuel pump, lift plate.
1,2,3 and 5 spray at idle, #4 won't spray till plate at > 30%
5. Replace all injectors.
6. Easy starts, Miss at idle on #4.
7. Swap fuel lines for #4 and #5 at fuel distributor.
8. Miss moves to #5.. problem is in the fuel distributor.
9. Pull fuel distributor, clean with carb cleaner, compressed air,
pull metering rod and find galling/scratches on upper "land".
Assumed that metering "slit" has been bitched up...
10. Reassemble (w/new filter) and miss is still there. (sigh)
Questions:
a. Am I missing anything in this diagnosis?
b. Does anyone else have any similar experience with Techron induced
fuel distributor damage?
c. Are the turbo/non turbo CIS fuel distributors the same?
d. Anybody got a complete "box" close to S.E. PA.?
