Scott,
Hahahahah....
I'm Portugese-American let me tell you a small story
about this..
I went to portugal with my V8 this Christmas..from
Luxembourg..
First off the main roads in Spain are beyond
dreams..flat..clean and get the heel out of my way
excellent...but the secondary roads are patroled by
the
state police somewhat like the Mass state police..big
mean and no excuses...watch out for the undercover
cars..they use a renault clio (I heard it was a
V6)..and some others also maybe the subaru and ford
focus as well. they are white with a bright orange
stripe.
Potugal...
Oh shit..how do I say this any thing can go..basically
everyone has a car with a average engine displacement
of about 1.3 or so meaning it's fighting space on the
roads everyone or anyone will try to pass you...unless
you have a big mean menacing V8..then they tailgate
you for several kilometers...the police here has one
law ..I believe they call it "no tolerance" in other
words you get caught going over 5kph you get a ticket.
Don't get caught going 40 over the actual speedlimit
in some places license is revoked...
The cops in Portugal are using undercover cars as well
and they aint ford cruisers either..ther're subaru
turbos mocked up in white mostly...VERY FAST CARS!!!
Don't forget Spain and Portugal are part of the
European Union...law enforcement has taken a different
approach now....
One other thing take the highway as much as possible
as they are in excellent shape and most are
new..especially down in the Algarve now..
have fun and stay out of the way of those wakos..
