yes the transmissions are different and so are the turbos and in certain areas one car will have an advantage over another but HP is HP and weight is weight. and 1lb/hp is a rather significant difference regardless of your transmission. besides typically there is usually less power loss through a 5 sp compared to a 6 sp

well depending on the driver and what was done to the Honda it IS possible, the C5 is amazingly fast but there are some VERY fast turbo charged hondas and acuras out there that are running low 11 second quarter mile times. I am not saying that the mentioned honda is one of those but it is possible. one thing you learn very quickly in racing is that there is always someone faster, regardless of what you are driving.
When I was living in NY I used to go every thursday night to watch cars street race and after watching a suzuki samuri blow the doors off of a mid 90's LT1 vette you come to believe that anything is possible.

Absolutely, because the transmissions are different and the performance of
the turbos are different. I'm not saying "mine is bigger than yours",
because I've driven both cars (well, not the two cars precisely, but a
chipped 88 5K 5-speed and an A6 6-speed).

Of course, we all heard confirmed that a Honda Civic beat a C5, so I guess
all bets are off without knowing the respective drivers. ;)
