PAYPAL......argh. (CAN-CON) I tried to register for Paypal using a
Mastercard issued from Canadian Tire. After one completely failed attempt
(the system would not accept the number of my card - as it was not
associated with a bank). My second try about a half year later resulted in
them charging to said card U$5, the number beside the charge description was
an 888 number (not the number to confirm on their web site). The person I
spoke to at Paypal said that they needed me to fax them a copy of my credit
card, front and back, and a copy of my signature. Screw that! I asked them
to cancel my account and reverse the charge - to date, no reversal, and lots
of "Special offers from Paypal" in my inbox. I'll continue my preferred
method of payment - stapled cash in envelope. Of course, the DKW's were
bought with money orders, but the local independent currency exchange, which
has better rates than the banks BTW, will cut a cheque drawn on a major US
bank at no charge for larger amounts (U$ 60 or more IIRC). I'm sure they
have a similar system in place for euros.
Cheers!
