Hi everybody,
I am new guy on the block so bear with me if I am not very articulate.
My '89 200quattro has developed hot start problem. It needs to be cranked longer than average car
whether hot or cold, but it will start. Now, when the engine is hot and left for 10-15 minutes, it will start
after a little prolonged cranking, but it idles rough and when you take off without a little more gas than usual,
it will die. When it dies there is no chance to restart it! You can crank it to run the battery down or burn the
starter, the engine will not start. What I do to restart it is I remove one or two spark plugs and I put a little
gasoline into each of them. That usually helps, but may take several times to do. And when the engine
restarts it has very weak and rough idle. I have to rev it up a couple of times to bring the idle to normal.
And then everything is fine. It has a smooth idle and normal power, no tendency to die on me.
It only wants to die on me when I start it hot and it is so weak.

I've checked all vacuum lines, distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs and wires are ok. So are ISV, idle sensor
and warm up sensor. Would it be the oxygen sensor or fuel injectors?

Any ideas?? Wes
