In general they don't.  The way the I5 is canted over, the fact that the 10V is not a
cross-flow design, and some poor engine bay layout on top of all that make this a major (IMO)
Audi weakness.

The non-crossflow design was beneficial in the old carburettor I5s, especially with the old
bimetal strip autochoke - the inlet manifold warmed up very quickly.  Unfortunately with the
turbos it just kept on warming up.
