BTW,  on the subject of the inaccuracies of T44 speedos:

Read a recent article in one of the big car mags about new car speedos
(killing time waiting for my deli order at the local super). As a group,
the German cars tend to read consistantly high, BMW the highest, at
nearly 4%. (the other groups, VAG, M-B weren't significantly more
accurate.) The Japanese group was the 2nd most accurate (all clustered
together again) and SURPRIZE! the 'muricans were the most accurate (about
2% high speedo reading vs. actual speed).

BTW - Odometers of all, as a rule, were MUCH more accurate.

Any guesses why? (and yes, there is an answer)
