tranny?

this is a transmition question (i think) for a 74 VW
bug non super beetle, if anyone can help it would
help! the transmition when you give it gas after it
hits about 2000 rpms or so, the tranny stops
funktioning, it feels as if its not there, the rpms
keep going up but no exceleration what so ever! it
does this through all the gearsand only catches in the
first couple thousand rpms of each then just drops
stops catching! what might be a possible problem? and
since im on the subject would anyone know if a porsche
tranny would bolt up easily?
