Cost of rallying

I am very interested in rallying, but my concern is the cost.
How much does it cost a year to participate in say, just the local rallys.
I realize that this is a tough question because it has lot's of factors but any pointers would be appreciated.

Right now I just have a 93 90CSq which is in almost show room condition, so I would also be looking at getting some kind of old quattro beater and fixing it up a bit.
