Update on the tank replacement.....
Repaired tank is now in the 86 5ktq. Wasn't nearly as hard as I had been
imagining. Lots of things need to be disconnected and removed, but overall,
I would rate this easier than a clutch. Finished putting the tank lines on
this weekend. Tightened up all the tank mounts. Ensured the differential
was on tightly. Re-attached the ebrake cable and the vacuum lines for the
diff solenoid. I have the new fuel accumulator, but haven't attached it
yet. Finished taking off the front calipers and spray painted one of the
G-60 replacements a nice gray/silver color with engine enamel. Hopefully
it lasts a while. Also finished draining the brake lines, just need to
flush out the master cylinder and then I can attach the G-60's and fill up
with the nice blue brake fluid :). Also will install the ATE power disc's
and the Pagid pads. Have to pick up some bolts for the drive shaft and then
I will be re-attaching that as well. After that's all done, all that will
be left will be putting the exhaust back on and getting the new tires
mounted/balanced, inspected and an alignment done. Looking to be back on
the road within 3 weeks!!! I CAN'T WAIT!
Plans for this summer...
I will be installing an autometer boost gauge, fitting the bypass valve in
and swapping in a K-24 turbo. I hope to have that all done by 4th of July.
Once all that work is done, I will only need a paint job and some minor seat
repair on the drivers seat.
course now I get to look forward to working on the Hyndai Excel next....
hmm I'm considerably less excited about that...
