I agree. I did basically the same thing in my 5KTQ, replaced the "aero" lights with the old style '84-85 4 beam setup, minus the inner "high" beam. much more air flow over the radiator.
now all i need to do is upgrade my oil cooler. hmm did I say all?? I meant yet another thing on a huge list!!

Even with A/C delete, the k24 turbo on my urq gets the temps up quickly
(could it be the 20psi/:), especially at track/autox events.  I removed both
inner headlights on my urq (and put 55/100 H4 in the outer euros), the
difference in temps was dramatic (like 20C drop and much steadier operating
temp)......*snip*
