Heat exchangers

Hello all,
  Can anyone recommend a good source describing the characteristics of  air
to _____ heat exchangers, i.e., Radiators, Condensors, Intercoolers.  For
instance how would doubling up rows, and cutting down on footprint affect
the efficiency.  I'm thinking of fooling around with the dimensions of my
rad and condenser in conjunction with an aftermarket, slimmer electric fan
to get a few more BTU's out of them, and hopefully free up some space for an
intercooler.  As a peripheral bonus, it would be nice to have a quieter fan.
  As always your comments and advice are appreciated.
