trans fluid suggestion for 016

   I finally got around to changing the trans fluid in my qsw and used the
Castrol Synthetic variety available at the dealer for my 016 trans. The vw
fluid was $25 a quart and the Castrol was $6.99 a quart. I was kinda hesitant
because normally I'm strictly a mobil kinda guy, but I had a bit of a time
restraint so I bit the bullet. Anyways, the Castrol works great. My 2nd gear
doesn't grind *as bad* and shifting in the morning is so much easier.
Something to consider if you don't mind not buying the best possible/most
expensive for your car. The Catrol fluid would probably be even cheaper if it
wasn't bought at the dealer, but my local auto zone didn't have any. One
thing I did notice was the (17mm) fill and drain plug allen bolts were a lot
easier to remove than what I was told it would take to remove them. Although,
the car was on a lift so that might have helped with clearance issues.
