Let me jump on the ringmeister bandwagon...
Some of you know that my '85 urq was involved in an
accident a couple of months ago. It's a long story,
but thankfully, the damage is all cosmetic (both
front corners). Initial damage estimate is $7500.

As you can imagine, the insurance company had no
clue what they were dealing with. Their local
contract appraiser gave up after a month, then the
company guy told me that two dealerships gave him
a figure around $2500 for the value of the car.
My hysterical laughter convinced him to do a bit
more research. I faxed him stacks of current ads,
maintenance records for my car, etc. I was fully
expecting to have to bring in my sister (the
lawyer).

About this time Wylie stepped in. He spoke to the
insurance guy and faxed him a letter (on dealership
letterhead, but he understandably put in a
disclaimer paragraph stating that it was simply his
opinion, not that of the dealer). Well, I don't
know if it was the legitimacy of being a dealer
employee, or his extensive knowledge of urqs
(probably a combination of both), but the insurance
guy called me the same day to tell me that they
were going to cover the repairs!

The ringmeister is tops in my book. He
single-handedly turned a long nightmare into a
success story. I have to say also that I'm pretty
impressed with AmEx insurance. I use them because
of the cheap premiums, but expected a big hassle
with this claim. They turned out to be quite
reasonable (once given proper information). The
guy knew I wanted the car fixed, and seemed happy
that he could oblige. He also had nothing but good
things to say about Wylie.
