I have not seen one person mention the fact we're comparing street cars and
build race cars.
when you build an engine to race, you can CHOOSE where you want the power
by cam timing, ignition timing, etc.
when you build a race car, you can CHOOSE where you want to put the red
mark on the gauge! You can choose to have a shift light.
a factory vehicle is designed to be smooth and nice acceleration for ALL
types of drivers, the red line is on the tach to tell when you are past
what the manufacture considers 'safe revs'.
mod your engine, and all this goes out the window.
after this, then you can have a discussion of 'when' to shift.....
