Strange, I thought I remembered removing a pretty impressive aluminum
I-beam sort of thing from the drivers door in an '87 5k I once was
disassembling...

The type 85's just have a pipe of sorts running front to back in the
door.  I saw one car where one of the end bolts was gone and the bar was
hanging down into the door bottom, though!
