Possible Mod to AC System. Is it a good idea?

How about this compromise: since the problem is more associated with the
hot interior air at the outset, and the fact that the AC probably takes
a few minutes to get nice and cold, you could install a switch (a timed
switch?) to defeat the recirculation for the first couple of minutes.

Get in the car, turn AC on with flap disabled (evap starts to get cold),
drive a minute or two with windows open to 'freshen up' the cabin air,
then close the windows and flap.  Presto, reasonably fresh, cold air.

You could actually use a thermoswitch in the evap I suppose, set to
something like 50 degree, to activate the flap (and close the windows
for you??? it should at least let you know it's time to close them...)
