Audi Fox/VW Fox. Basically the same car?

On a similar note. I think it was recently brought up, but I don't
remember a definate answer. Can a 4 cyl (ie 1.8T) be bolted up to a
quattro drivetrain (016?) or are they just completely incompatable?
