I'm experiencing a strange problem with my wife's 93 90cs. The car has
failed to start on six recent occasions, one time each spaced over about 4
months, and then three times on the same day. Letting the car sit for a
while solves the problem, but one doesn't always have that luxury.
My wife stops on the way to work to purchase coffee, and that is when the car
failed to start the first 4 times, the 5th was Thursday day after work, and
the 6th was that evening in the garage. The engine turns over fine, but
there doesn't appear to be any spark. Strangely, the car has never stopped
while running. I had the ignition switch changed out because it had another
problem, and that seemed to solve the starting problem, or so I thought,
until Thursday when it suffered its 4th, 5th, and 6th malfunction. In all
cases the car would start and run fine within 10 to 30 minutes.
I'm at a loss to understand what in the ignition system only functions on
starting the car, and not when the car is running, or what else could be the
problem.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
