beware the evil Mobil oil

So I'm buying a case of 10w30 M1(second try this week; first time,
they had 2 bottles left, not quite enough) at the local
Autozone(poster children for why mergers suck; store chain has
changed something like 3-4 times in the last couple of years, and
store selection is all crap now, all generic BS like "Coastal" brake
oil...wtf is Coastal?  Larger number of snake oil additives, the good
car care stuff is gone, air freshener selection has tripled, etc.)

I grab the usual green case...but...hmm..looks a little not so
usual...curious.  Ah well.  Probably some bored marketing twerp
decided to change the box, says I.

I get to the cash register, the manager rings it up, and then opens
the box(I'm totally confused at this point) and pulls out a bottle.

"Hmm, did you want the Mobil 1?  This is the blend."

Oops.

So we wander back, put the box of "fake" stuff back.  Somehow, I
think I'm not the first person to make this mistake, judging by his
mentioning it, and the 2 boxes of the stuff on the floor also broken
open, which I didn't really notice the first time.  The manager
wanders around to find that not only did they over-order M1 10w30 for
the week, but none if it's on display in the rack.  He politely
indicates his severe displeasure to one of the clerks, and fetches a
case for me.

Anyway, they changed the M1 too, slightly...it's now got "SuperSyn"
"anti-wear" additive marked on the box.  Whatever.  Works, looks,
smells, tastes(just kidding) the same to me.  Probably just a new
name for something that was already in it from the beginning(again,
bored marketing twerps.)

So...beware the look-alike, evil imposter synthetic blend...looks
just like the regular M1, except the cases and bottles are black I
think, instead of the normal silver.
