re. Tire Rotation

My understanding is that the tires get swapped front to rear/rear to front
on the same side. This is particularly true on directional tires.

I have not been religious about rotation, and my tires seem no worse for
the wear.

I think it is more important that the car be in alighment, and tire
pressures maintained correctly.

[I have heard conflicting patterns of tire rotation on all-wheel-drive cars
with all-season non-directional tires. One says rears go to front on same
side while fronts go to rear on opposite side. The other says rears go to
front on opposite sides and fronts go to rear on opposite side. What's the
consensus for Quattro?
