Chipping NA engines: Is it worth it?

I saw that TAP offers a chip upgrade for 1987+ Coupe GTs. And I have seen other tuners offering chips for Coupe GTs with the 2.3 NG engine. What is the consensus on chipping NA engines like the NG? What gains, if any, could I expect? Down sides? Worth the cost? I know chipping my 1.8T was the best mod I ever did, but forced induction tuning is a whole different world...
